How LOBERON centralizes its transports under one roof – and now chooses from seven offers instead of two

A growing online retailer for furniture and home accessories. Ten European markets. A transport team that previously organized bookings via Teams chats, emails, and freight forwarder portals. And a transport platform that turned this into a central, traceable procurement process within a few weeks.

Loberon – Living with Character, Logistics with High Standards

Since 2012, Loberon has been selling furniture and home accessories in country house, vintage, and industrial styles—exclusively own brands, with around 2,000 new items per year.

From Nuremberg, the company manages ten European markets, with its central warehouse located in Pegnitz. Bulky furniture, international routes, fixed routes, and short-term spot demands: Transport organization at Loberon faces daily challenges—from standard FTL loadings to deliveries for new pop-up stores.

A Different Handling Channel for Deliveries in Every Country

Before introducing Oyaso, transport procurement at LOBERON was largely manual—especially for international shipments. Alex Schöpp, who is responsible for transport organization with his team, describes the status quo as follows: Part of the shipments was booked via a freight forwarder portal, while the rest was spread across Teams chats, emails, and phone calls. An FTL was awarded via chat message—“please pick this up on Wednesday”—and was barely traceable afterwards. The daily consequences:

Fragmented Channels:

A Teams chat for Swiss routes, an email to the Italian post, a portal booking for the rest—every country and every case meant a different path.

Blind Invoice Verification:

Without documented awards, invoice verification often came down to an estimation of "could fit."

Little Carrier Competition:

Prices for B2B key accounts or special transports were compared among two freight forwarders at best—the manual process couldn't handle more.

Double Effort for Coverage:

Since each transaction lived in a different channel, handing over tasks within the team took time and ran the risk of losing information.

Half a Day of Onboarding, Then Productive

Straightforward Start and Fast Onboarding

Loberon opted for a pragmatic approach: test first, then roll out. Training per user took about two hours, and onboarding the entire team took half a day—without an IT project or a lengthy training phase.

Smooth Daily Operations

In the very first weeks, spot tenders and direct assignments were running productively; even holiday coverage handled bookings without friction.

Direct Feedback and Co-Creation

The team submits questions and suggestions for improvement directly in the application—and gets heard.

Step-by-Step Expansion

The transition occurred gradually: First, spot requests were moved to the platform; now, a large portion of international transports is tendered via Oyaso to actively leverage the transport market.

Three Things That Make the Difference

Spot Market Tenders with a Carrier Pool

Requirements not covered by existing contracts are now tendered by Loberon in a structured way—such as overland freight to Italy for an overflow warehouse. Instead of just two comparison prices, five to ten offers are now regularly displayed side by side on a map.

Direct Assignment to Fixed Carriers

Existing routes are booked directly through the exact same interface. The daily 9:30 AM transport sync ends with confirmed bookings from Nuremberg for the warehouse in Pegnitz—without switching channels.

Central Documentation with Reference Numbers

Every booking and every return carries a reference number. During invoice verification, team members can trace exactly what was ordered on which day—providing the foundation for reporting and management.

Now we have everything under one roof. Before, it was fragmented: a Teams chat for Swiss routes, an email to the Italian post, plus bookings in freight forwarder portals. Today, everything is bundled in one software. We can trace exactly what happened on which day.

Additionally, in the past, we might have compared prices from two freight forwarders. Now, we gather more offers through our carrier pool. For us, it’s currently the best tool for comparing and evaluating.

The feedback from the team is equally clear. As one colleague put it during onboarding: 'This is brilliant—you have everything in one place.'"

More Carrier Competition, More Time for Other Tasks, Full Traceability

7 Offers instead of 2

per spot request – more competition means better conditions for every award.

1 Platform instead of 4 Channels

Teams chats, emails, phone calls, and portal bookings are replaced by a single, standardized process.

½ Day Onboarding

for the entire team, roughly two hours per user.

100% Traceable

Reference numbers attached to bookings and returns make invoice verification completely reliable.

From Channel Chaos to Control Center

Before

Bookings scattered across Teams chats, emails, and carrier portals—making them hard to trace.

Implementation

Half a day of onboarding and a gradual rollout with spot requests—no complex IT project required.

After

Centralized assignment for both spot and fixed routes, up to seven offers per request, and full transparency—turning freight procurement into an effective management tool.

The impact is already catching on internally: The import team, responsible for major ocean freight tenders, has already actively requested to use Oyaso—since the process is largely identical, with only the offer structure differing. On top of that, LOBERON is currently opening pop-up stores in Hamburg and Munich, where delivery logistics and volume planning are currently top priorities.

Built for the Manufacturing Industry

Market Dynamics and Challenges

The freight market is constantly shifting: rates fluctuate, capacities swing, and expanding product lines—like Loberon’s—continuously create new routes and one-off requirements.

Success Factors and Limits of Manual Processes

In this exact environment, the number of offers received per request dictates purchasing terms, and reliable data determines leverage in negotiations. Manual processes fail to deliver on both.

An Efficient Transition with High Returns

Switching platforms is not a massive, complex project: what took half a day of onboarding for Loberon pays off with every single booking today.
